These include some young adult novels: the Penderwicks series (4 books for a total of $22 on Amazon), the Calpurnia Tate books (there are 2 in the series),  the Princess Bride (book, not the movie), or a couple of cookbooks by the Six Sisters Stuff.

Both of us also love gift cards: Zupas, Olive Garden, Cafe Rio, Chilis, or Kneaders.  Gift cards are not a cop-out.
