The Little Gerald Man

This is just a reminder from the favorite buddie to take time to smell the flowers. Even if they look like frosting.

Hava-ii

Maloha! I know you all wanted to see some pictures from my trip to Hava-ii. For some reason, I'm not great about taking pictures when I don't have you all with me. It's just more fun to have pictures with you guys! Anyway, we went to the PCC, the swap meet, Pearl Harbor, the Dole pineapple plantation, several beaches, Sam's Club, and Wal-Mart. It was a great trip. My limbs are very tan but I put a bit of sunscreen on my face to protect the collagen and elastin so it looks a little paler...Anyway, I love you all. Let's go to Hawaii! The lovely sunset over the ocean. My bonnie lies over the ocean...

Are you goin? to the HukiLau?

In front of the PCC

Ooh, you weren't expecting a gun show, were you?!

With my gnarly tat.

Elvis came to the PCC. I love him. And he loves me.

Gwammie-cakes! And my tan line.

I say that in addition to the childhood memory thing and Never Ending Story marathon, we should have a dance party. Another reason to have a sibling get to gether, eh? Good times...

Also, does anyone know the full Bye Bye Bye dance? I would like to learn it.

Funny Story

So I've told a couple of you guys this story, but it really was freaking hilarious and I wanted to immortalize it on the Internet. So-
Yesterday I was going to the bathroom in one of the buildings on campus, and for the most part, it went pretty much according to plan. I went in the stall, did my business, and as i was coming out i realized that the lock had indeed broken while i was on the inside. I was in there for about ten minutes, shaking the door, trying to twist the lock back and forth, and even trying to stick my finger in the lock and shove it open. Alas, i had no luck. I was laughing silently to myself for a good few minutes, until it just got ridiculous. I had been in there for like ten minutes, just rattling this door, and by that time i was laughing out loud in my stall. I really wonder what the other girls were thinking, because, i was most definitely not alone. There were around 12 other girls in the bathroom, and one of them was just to my left. I would be thinking some pretty strange things too if i heard some random girl in the stall next to me trying to break down the door, and laughing the whole time. Now, at this time you are probably thinking, why didn't you just crawl under the door? Well the answer my dear family is that it was because there was only about a foot clearance from the floor to the door. Needless to say, I laid on my belly and pulled myself out of the stall by my hands in sort of a penguin-slide type deal. As I emerged out of that stall, I found myself surrounded by about six girls, all of whom where very confused at why i was coming out of the stall in such a non-conventional way. All i said was, "Yep! That door is broken." The reply was just as I imagined- "Oh! I was wondering what all that banging was!" Or "Did you really just get locked in there?" or "Ha ha that is way too funny." Anyway- it was pretty exciting and it made my whole day. I then got to walk around campus looking like a moron because I was just laughing to myself for like an hour. I loved it.

So I found out some intersting facts about Saint Patrick's day and I thought I would share. Wikipedia is amazing, isn't it? I just can't believe public schools are still open while such learning is to be had.

St. Patrick's Blue, not green, was the colour long-associated with St. Patrick. Green, the colour most widely associated with Ireland, with Irish people, and with St. Patrick's Day in modern times, may have gained its prominence through the phrase "the wearing of the green" meaning to wear a shamrock on one's clothing. At many times in Irish history, to do so was seen as a sign of Irish nationalism or loyalty to the Roman Catholic faith. St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish. The wearing of and display of shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs have become a ubiquitous feature of the saint's holiday. The change to Ireland's association with green rather than blue probably began around the 1750's. (Wikipedia)

According to legend, St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish.

The first Saint Patrick's Day parade was in Boston. It is also the longest running. However, New York holds the trump card for the largest St. Paddy's day parade. It's just got more people.

I wish you all a happy St. Patrick's day on Tuesday! I know it's a little early, but I'll be out of town next week...in Hawaii... and you all will be GREEN with jealousy! Love you all!

Gotcha!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Nostalgia

I'm feeling rather nostalgic today, and I thought while I had the time, I would share a few of my childhood memories. (Yes, my CHILDHOOD!!)

  • Remember when we would all walk down to Reams, stop at the pet shop, Baskin Robins for free samples, and continue on to get candy and fountain drinks? I'm pretty sad that sugar fest is over.
  • Remember when we had to take all the rocks out of the ENTIRE back yard?
  • Remember when our chickens escaped and ran over to the school?
  • Boo, remember when we would hide in the old garage and spy on the workers with mirrors and stuff?
  • Remember when we would play dodge ball on the tramp forever until someone ran in crying? (Alan and Paul dominated always)
  • Remember when Paul and Mikey tied me up and left me for dead in the playroom? No one could find me for hours.
  • Alana, remember our saw horses that Nood made for us? Emily and Clowny or something like that.
  • Nood, remember when we would play house with the dyers and you would always be our poor, widowed mother?
  • Boo, do you remember when we would jump out of our second story bedroom window with Whitney Terry because we thought we were brave?
  • Beef, do you remember when Whitney Terry bit your wart off?
  • Alana, do you remember when we wanted a fridge in our room SO bad because we always wanted to eat cereal before bed?
  • Or when we had our dog Hammie and we would run through the bean cages with him?
  • Do you remember the times when beacon never got old?
  • When we would go to lagoon every summer, and Amanda and Anna got off the magic carpet before the ride was over?
  • When we had chickens in our root cellar, and one of them died when the lights went out?
  • When we had our pet raccoon Zorro that Spencer captured outside Malia's old house?
  • Before the "new" addition?
  • When we would play aliens under the tramp covered in blankets?
  • When we would sleep out on the tramp/playhouse?
  • When we would go swimming at the spa like everyday?
  • When we had the tire swing in the front yard?
  • When we would play kick the can with the Nagosians like every night?
  • When our Hurricane expeditions were monthly?
  • When every time Mom would have a baby we went to Chuck-a-Rama?
I know there plenty others, and I would love to have more added. I love my family, and I loved my growing up years. Love love you all
~Shawna

  • When Spencer broke Mason's leg?
  • When I smashed Anna's finger in the door?
  • When Spencer punched me in the legs?
  • When Alana almost got blinded by the light diffuser that came crashing down on her face?
  • When Alana smashed Shawna's thumb with roofing equipment, hence the frinkly digit?
  • The cherry red eight seater van with the bed in back?
  • Potato logs and fried chicken at Texaco on our way down to Hurricane?
  • Alan's power wave? Oh who could forget the power wave?
  • When we lived in Lilywhite's house and the ditch would overflow and we would swim in it?
  • When we would make mud pies and roller skate dow the ditch at Lilywhite's?
  • Harry and the Hendersons?
  • How funny it was when Anna did the can-can?
  • How awesome it was to be the one to take the screaming baby out of sacrament meeting?
  • Lentils?
  • Tuna glop?
  • Paul's stuffed raccoon, Skippy?
  • Alana's whistling?
  • When I crackede the little Boo's noggin open?
  • When TGI Friday cartoon were actually good? Man they had a good line up! Gummy Bears, Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, Goof Troop.
  • Super Human Static Shock?
  • When Mom and dad would make "love sandwiches" and were the bread and we got to pick what we were in the middle?
  • "We love eachother, don't we? More than anything else!" ?
  • Spencer, do you remember the scary crab show dad let us watch when you were like, 5?!
  • Listening to Ace of Base on Marilyn's cd player?

~Amanda

I had to put these on the original post because I thought they were hilarious. I believe it was rachel? You-mo-gway-gwi-fi-tzi-tzau!!

Unfortunately, I do not remember even HALF of this. But I have a few things. Remember when:
  • Amanda would call us all Ragamuffins because we did not like to do things such as: shower, brush our hair or teeth, or wear our nice clothes?
  • we would play Iron Monkey and all of the cool tricks like "Flying Sleeve!" ect? Buddah's palm!!
  • When we would use the strings on the blinds to send a basket filled with treasures from Angela's room to the ground outside?
  • When we would play "Vampires" in the dark room when the bunk bed was still there?
  • When we'd make a hammock in the bunk bed and have to hold the blankets in place so Shawna could go in there to rock Emma to sleep?
  • When we'd watch Jackie Chan and Shawna would always chant "You-mo-gway-gwi-fi-tzi-tzau"?

Crockpot Chocolate Pudding Cake

Super easy and WAY yummy! I thought Rachel would especially enjoy this.
  • 1 jello chocolate pudding mix (6-oz size)
  • 1 chocolate fudge cake mix, plus ingredients needed to prepare cake
  • 3 cups milk
  • crushed candy canes or whipped topping (optional)
Spray crockpot with nonstick cooking spray. Whisk together the milk and pudding mix in the crockpot. Let set slightly.

Meanwhile, mix the cake according to package directions. Carefully pour cake batter over pudding. Do NOT stir. Cook on high for 1 1/2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean. Serve with crushed candy canes or whipped cream, if desired.
